Business Aspirations

Many people think they can’t run a business, but, there is an untold truth about people’s unattained business aspirations. Have you asked yourself this same question? So many business ideas or unattained aspirations all because of our number one problem, self-doubt. I believe the second most downfall about, unattained aspirations, is due to a lack of a support system. Lastly, I know a possible reason why people choose not to pursue business ideas is the fear of failing. What do I know, you may wonder? Well, I have faced these same challenges as I am sure many others have also. I write to you today, a small business owner, a woman, and considered a double minority. Why a double? I am a woman, that’s one, and I am an African & Hispanic American, that is two.

My name is Ronita Perez, a solopreneur who was fed up with working corporate and retail jobs, being told what I was worth, according to the slow-paced increase of pay over the years combined, and added with the lack of control of my own time! I found it about time to take the reigns of my life back from companies I thought were investing in my best interests when in reality my best interest meant finding my professional peace and identity in the world of business!

I have found my peace through developing my spirituality first and using the principles of that very thing to be led to removing self-doubt and the fear of failing. It is so critical to address our inner thoughts and beliefs as those very things that shape the way we walk through our decisions every day. Believing in a greater essence above one’s self brings a greater sense of accountability, dependability, and discipline.

When you’re an African & Hispanic American woman battling the challenges of society’s standards and rules you learn through God that no one can determine your worth but you, no one can tell you what you are not capable of but you, and more importantly no one can give you a better title than you can give yourself by understanding your identity in the kingdom of God first!

When you CHOOSE to understand this, you are then choosing to denounce the self-doubt, fear of failing, and you automatically know that you have a greater support system than you can ever hope for! Gone are the days of working whatever shift given to you. Forget having to request, strategically, the time off you need for family, un-planned illness, unexpected life events, and personal days, those two weeks PTO for the year – GONE! Do you know about accruing occurrences after those two weeks are gone!? Talk about being on edge.

Who Do You Say You Are

Say no more! I’m here to tackle our pitfalls in the world of business from a deeper spiritual perspective! When you look around online, searching for blogs to read on your choice of content, how often do you find anyone addressing what’s “REALLY” going on deep down inside of you as a lower class, middle class, and dare I say, upper class working individual? How about that unhealthy competitive habit? Shh… are you the one secretly manipulating others’ livelihoods to get yourself to the “top” by any means necessary?

What about you business owners? Is there a small voice that says something about how you handle your business ethics and overall values? How often is that ignored? Listen, I’m not here to make you feel bad about yourself, really I am not. However, I want you to understand that who you are to the core dictates how successful you can be now and in the future mentally, spiritually, emotionally, physically, and psychologically. A lot rides on a person’s humility when it comes to business aspirations.

Now, don’t go off thinking, “this is too deep” what exactly does your livelihood mean to you that does not fully consist of material things? Consider what truly makes you happy when you are not self-doubting, living fearfully, and upset about your support system. Can you find anything? If so, even better. Let that very thing you found that makes you happy be a motivational force to fix the deepest layers of your heart and mind.

Someone may need you one day to help them reach their God-given identity, and when they do, you will have found your true worth by uncovering the better image of you, made in God’s image. • “Do not love sleep or you will grow poor; stay awake and you will have food to spare” Proverbs 20:13
  • “Gold there is, and rubies in abundance, but lips that speak knowledge are a rare jewel” Proverbs 20:15
  • “Make plans by seeking advice, if you wage war, obtain guidance” Proverbs 20:18
  • “A man’s steps are directed by the Lord. How then can anyone understand his own way?” Proverbs 20:24
